About your DQ Points and status

Your Driver Quotient, or DQ, measures your overall driving behaviour. You earn DQ Points for good driving, taking steps to improve your driving and knowledge and awareness and making sure your vehicle is safer to drive.

As you become a better driver and earn more DQ Points, your Vitalitydrive status will improve and you will earn more rewards. The Vitalitydrive dashboard will show you how many DQ Points you’ve earned each month. You’ll also get feedback on your driving behaviour to see where you need to improve, as well as which DQ Points earning activities you still need to complete.

 

Your DQ Points determine your Vitalitydrive status

The more DQ Points you earn, the higher your Vitalitydrive status will be. There are four status levels: Base, Neutral, Engaged and Advanced. DQ Points are reset at the beginning of each calendar month.

When you join Discovery Insure and activate Vitalitydrive, we will allocate 400 DQ Points to you as your Driver performance score until such time that your DQ-Track has collected enough information to determine your real Driver performance score based on your actual driving behaviour.

This should take no longer than six weeks for clients with a standalone DQ-Track and no longer than a week for clients with the smartphone-enabled DQ-Track.

 

Track your DQ Points on your Vitalitydrive dashboard

DQ Points can take different lengths of time to show on your Vitalitydrive dashboard, as we may rely on third parties for the information.

Below, you can see how long DQ Points take to show on your dashboard for the different DQ Points earning activities.

Within 24 hours
DQ Points will reflect on your Vitalitydrive dashboard within 24 hours of completing the:
Online driver assessment

Within seven days
Passing the Tiger Wheel & Tyre Annual MultiPoint check
Your service history being up to date

Within 14 days
A Discovery Insure driving course
EyeGym courses

After the end of each month
Personal goals
Your points for claim-free years

Your Driver performance score should be determined within six weeks for clients with a standalone DQ-Track and within a week for clients with the smartphone-enabled DQ-Track, and will reflect on the Vitalitydrive dashboard after the end of each month.
